Three Honest Tiers. Pick the One That Fits.

Restoration paint quality is a spectrum, and the price is too. We do not pretend a driver-quality paint job is concours, and we do not charge concours money for a driver job. Three named tiers. Each one says exactly what is included. You pick what fits the project and the budget.

Tier 1

Driver Quality

A solid daily-driver paint job. Honest finish, factory-correct color, holds up to weather and use. The right call for projects that will see the road.

  • Sanding and prep to remove old paint and surface rust
  • Primer and seam sealer to factory standard
  • Single-stage or base-clear paint per project
  • Color match to factory code or era-correct color
  • Door jambs, engine bay, and trunk included
  • Buff and polish to factory gloss
  • Written workmanship guarantee
Tier 2 · Most Popular

Show Quality

A noticeably better finish. Bodywork to factory-line standard, deeper prep, color-sanded and buffed clear coat. The right call for show cars that still get driven.

  • Everything in Driver Quality
  • Bodywork to factory-line standard, dents and ripples flattened
  • Block sanding through primer for straight panel finish
  • Additional clear coats for depth
  • Wet sand and buff to mirror finish
  • Hidden surfaces (under hood, jambs, trunk) finished to match exterior
  • Project photos at major milestones
Tier 3

Concours Quality

Show-judge ready. Bare metal restoration, every surface finished to the same standard as the exterior. Long project, premium price. The right call for trailer queens and serious investments.

  • Strip to bare metal, full body prep
  • Metal repair to original panel dimensions
  • Multi-stage paint with maximum clear coat depth
  • Every surface (inner panels, frame, undercarriage if requested) finished
  • Color matched to date-code and era-specific paint
  • Final color sand to ultra-fine grit, multiple buff stages
  • Detailed photo documentation through entire project

Long Project. Three Clear Stages.

Restoration paint runs weeks to months. The schedule, the photos, and the budget all need to be clear from the start. Three stages, documented through the whole project.

No Shortcuts. On Panels You Cannot See.

Restoration paint quality lives in the prep work, not the final coat. We do not skip surface prep, primer steps, or seam sealer on the panels you cannot see after assembly. The same standard goes on the underside as the top side.

  • Full Prep Strip, sand, repair, and prime to the depth the tier requires. Bare metal where required, not a paint-over.
  • Era-Correct Color Factory paint code, date-code-specific paint, or custom color match. Discussed with you and confirmed before mixing.
  • Documented Photo project folder through every major milestone. Hidden damage documented as found. Quote updates in writing.
  • Lifetime Guarantee Paint workmanship guaranteed against premature failure for the life of your ownership. Signed by Chris, in writing.

Common Questions

How long does a full restoration paint job take?
Driver-quality runs four to six weeks of shop time, though calendar time may be longer based on parts and booth availability. Show-quality runs eight to twelve weeks of shop time. Concours-quality is a months-long project, typically four to six months. We give you a written milestone schedule before the deposit.
Can you paint my project to an era-correct color?
Yes. We can match to a factory paint code from your VIN or trim plate, to a date-code-specific paint from the era, or to a custom color you provide. Era-correct colors often need additional verification against original-era samples, which we will note on the estimate. Tri-coat and pearl colors fully supported.
What is the difference between driver quality and show quality?
Driver quality is an honest paint job that looks good and holds up to use. Show quality adds deeper bodywork (block sanding through primer to flatten panels), more clear coat depth, wet sanding and buffing to mirror finish, and matching finish on door jambs and engine bay. The price difference reflects the additional labor hours, not material cost.
Do you do restoration paint on classic trucks and hot rods?
Yes. Classic pickups, hot rods, vintage cars, and project vehicles are all in scope. We have done full-frame restoration paint on classic Chevy and Ford trucks, and partial restoration work on hot rod builds. Bring the project and we will scope it honestly.
Can I see the project progress while it is in the shop?
Yes. We send progress photos at every major milestone (strip complete, primer complete, paint complete, buff complete) and you are welcome to visit the shop by appointment to see the work in person. Restoration is a long project and you should know where it is in the process.
