Your Driver Calls It In. We Take It From There.

Fleet diesel problems usually arrive as a driver complaint, not a diagnosis. Below are the calls fleet managers make most often and the path each one usually takes once the truck is in our shop.

Truck is in derate or limp mode
Likely Path Usually emissions related: DEF quality, DPF soot load, or a sensor fault forcing the derate. We pull the codes, verify the actual cause instead of clearing and hoping, and fix the system that triggered it. Forced regens and DEF system repair handled in-house.
Hard starts or long cranking when cold
Likely Path Glow plug or intake heater faults, fuel pressure bleeding down through a leaking injector or lift pump, or batteries that load-test weak. We test rather than guess, because replacing injectors on a battery problem is money your fleet does not need to spend.
White or black smoke under load
Likely Path Black smoke points to overfueling or restricted air: injectors, turbo boost, or a clogged filter. White smoke points to unburned fuel or coolant: injector timing, low compression, or a head gasket. Smoke color plus a compression and balance test narrows it fast.
Losing power on the highway or under load
Likely Path Turbocharger wear, boost leaks, fuel supply restriction, or a clogged DPF. We road-test with live data to see what the engine is actually doing under load, then quote the specific failure instead of a parts-cannon estimate.
Coolant level dropping with no visible leak
Likely Path Pressure-test the cooling system first. If it holds, we look at EGR cooler failure or a head gasket pushing coolant into the cylinders. Caught early this is a repair. Run long enough, it becomes an engine. This is the call to make the same week.
Fuel in the oil or oil level rising
Likely Path Failed injector washing a cylinder, a lift pump issue, or repeated incomplete regens diluting the oil. We find the source, fix it, and change the oil after repair. Running diluted oil under load is how fleet engines end up needing the rebuild bay.

Fixed Once. Back on the Route.

A fleet diesel that comes back twice for the same problem costs you the repair, the downtime, and the trust of the driver who has to run that truck. We do not do fast work. We do right work, and the 2025 record shows it.

  • Test-Driven by Chris Every repaired unit is personally test-driven by Chris before it returns to your fleet. Zero vehicles returned for incomplete or incorrect repairs in 2025.
  • In-House Rebuilds When a fleet engine is past repair, Chris rebuilds it himself in our 140 x 150 ft. shop. Not outsourced, not an exchange unit of unknown history.
  • OEM Standard OEM parts when they exist, best available standard when they do not. Official Continental Battery and Bosch dealer. No cheap aftermarket on a truck your business depends on.
  • Fleet Records Every repair logged against the unit number with cause, parts, and work performed. Your maintenance file stays complete without your office chasing paperwork.

Common Questions

How fast can you get a fleet diesel truck back on the road?
Diagnostics typically happen within a day of arrival. Common repairs like injectors, turbos, or DEF faults run days, not weeks, depending on parts availability. Fleet program customers get priority scheduling when a unit is down. We give you a written timeline at quote and update you if it changes.
Do you repair DEF and emissions systems or just clear the codes?
We repair the system. Clearing a derate code without fixing the cause puts the truck right back in limp mode a week later. We diagnose the actual fault, repair or replace the failed component, and verify the fix through a full regen cycle. All emissions work is compliant. We do not do deletes.
Can you rebuild a fleet diesel engine instead of replacing it?
Yes. Chris rebuilds diesel engines in-house and never outsources them. For a fleet truck, a rebuild documented in your service file is often the better business call than a used engine of unknown history. We will give you an honest comparison of rebuild versus replacement before you decide.
Which diesel makes and models do you work on?
Fleet pickups and work trucks across the common platforms: Power Stroke, Duramax, and Cummins, plus medium-duty trucks and diesel equipment. If your fleet runs something unusual, call us and we will tell you straight whether it is in scope before you send the truck over.
What does diesel fleet repair cost in Midland, TX?
Every job is quoted custom after diagnosis, because two trucks with the same symptom rarely have the same cause. You get an itemized written quote before any repair work begins, and we flag anything that can safely wait so you control the spend. Call (432) 557-6500 for an honest number.
